Just wanted to throw this out there for discussion.

With the adoption of CADPAT TW and CADPAT AR, OD accessories and gear seem to be less and less popular, however the generic colour that most guys are buying aftermarket kit for Afghanistan tours is Coyote Brown.

Is Coyote Brown in essence the new OD?

How many of you out there that purchase aftermarket kit feel as though you can use the Coyote Brown stuff with CADPAT TW kit back home in Canada?

Well, the rule here, which as far as I know isn't written, is that you can use OD/AR accessories if you've been to or are currently training up to go to Afghanistan. Other than that, be inconspicuous, lest you be asked about it.

The only aftermarket kit I've used back in Canada is my ESS Profile NVG goggles in Tan and Oakley SI Assault gloves in Tan. No one's said anything, but I think if you start using TV accessories that are Coyote Brown and you aren't on HR training, you'll stick out like a sore thumb.

A lot of guys(including myself) are using US Desert Camo, tan an Coyote Brown backpacks, an no one's said a thing about it. Probably helps that the RSM also uses a tan backpack.

Coyote Brown pouches added to the Tac Vest I think would be fine(unit dependent).

My regiment's pretty much good to go with regards to non-issued rigs, as there are plenty of us back from tour. The coyote brown seems to stick out less against TW CADPAT. Get it a bit dirty and it blends in decently here during spring, summer or fall weather. The AR sticks out more. I'm finding myself wishing I'd picked up a rig in Coyote instead of AR CADPAT. I might throw some green and brown spray paint at it at some point.
