Honest opinions, CT'ng to Reg force as a combat engineer at age 40.  I just don't have the heart to remuster, as I have a lot of time and effort spent with the engineers, and I would hate to flush all those quals down the drain. Also, I have come to realize that there isn't much else I would rather do, as the shuttle program is winding down now( haha)

If you have the skills, interest, and physical fitness to do so, I say do it!

My husband is not terribly younger than you (just turned 35). Had 13 years in with the PRes, before doing a CT (and OT) to Reg F Geo Tech. They let him keep his BMQ, and I think his SQ, and possibly JLC as well. The PT he's doing now on his QL5a course is REALLY helping with his fitness, but hasn't "killed" him either. I'd say go for it!

if you are fit, that's not a problem; you got lots of time until CRA.
Saw several ppl over 40 doing the BEOC 1.1 and 1.2 - am not sure of the DP1 but I think I saw a few old guys there as well.

While I applaud your hubby's choice to CT, there's a MASSIVE difference in the physical requirements between a Geo Tech and a Cbt Engr.

To the OP, if your body is up to the challenge, give it a shot. Depending on where you are in the ranks / qualifications in the PRes Engrs, you may get more written off than you may expect.

I didn't expect that the phys req for the two trades would be the same. The point of my post was more that he was able to keep his BMQ, SQ, etc. If he had to go through BMQ again, that would have been an entirely different story, and he would have had to do some major get-in-shape first.

The way I look at it, if you don't try, you'll never know if you can pull it off. If you don't like the offer when you receive it, you can always turn it down (albeit with other consequences, I'm sure)
