So waaaay back in fall 2000 when I was a university kid and only 20 years old, I got pretty serious about joining the CF reserves, I thought it would be good for me etc. Anyway, I went through most of the process and got to the interview. When they asked what kind of drugs I had done I was honest and admitted that I had smoked a bunch of pot the summer before (so about 3 months prior). The recruiter told me that they preferred I took another 3 months before I came back, and they would hold onto my file. I ended up not coming back!

So now, 8 years later, I'm 28 and decidedly unchallenged - still drug free since 2000 so no problems there. I'm considering joining the reserves but am unsure how the process will be affected by my record, or even if they still have the information on file. Is this still going to be a problem for me coming back and trying to join again? Hell, is 28 even too old to really be considering getting into the army?

not sure they would have your file - but be sure to fill in the space where it asks if you had applied before as yes.  As far as your age, well, I'm 30 and I'm joining and I know others who have joined later in life than I.
