We've all seen the old videos of the first tanks in WW1 going up a small pile of dirt at an angle then dropping suddenly, ending up like this:

Now I wonder... that sudden drop of 10 feet CANNOT be comfortable in a tight metal place like that. So did any of them die or get seriously injured from this? heh.

Now I wonder... are you for real? heh

Yes.

But I am curious - why are you interested in ancient history?

Roy, just have a squizz at this bloke's avatar  ::) !

Crikey, I thought an officer with a map was dangerous  :warstory:

Maybe this should be locked, as its sure to draw the crabs.

Cheers,

Wes

Thanks, Wes.  I have avatars turned off - in my somewhat remote location the strain on the bandwidth makes this advisable (come to think of it, I have no idea what my own avatar may be) - so I hadn't noticed this before.

For ghyslyn:

Interesting avatar - coupled with interesting questions.  I'll leave it open for now - mostly out of morbid curiosity about where you might be going with this.

Someone needs to tell him that Jesus had to quit playing hockey.

Interesting really, this is the third thread I've started where I've been questioned as to why I start it, can we not just have random interesting conversations in this forum? Do I really need to have a point behind a random conversation? When I brought this tank issue up with my father after we saw a clip of the tank dropping he was laughing like crazy. Not about if they die but about how insanely uncomfortable it might be, cause you don't think about it at first but once you do... ouch.

"Jesus Saves"
"Sundin gets the rebound.  He shoots, he scores!"

Time to lock a thread?

Random conversations are for MSN and chat rooms. If you posted something genuinely interesting there would be room for discussion, but you just posted a few pictures with a dumb quip at the end. Whats to discuss? Of course it would be uncomfortable to be anything when it lands upside down. I also don't think the little "heh" after the question about people dying or being seriously injured will endear you to people here either.

To perhaps re-rail this thread, I think it would have been a much more relevant post had the "heh" been dropped in the opening post to this thread.  Something like this:

"This manoeuvre by this world war one tank looks absurd in that the crew would have been bounced around probably uncontrollably, possibly resulting in serious injury or death.  Was it and is it common to have AFVs conduct so-called stunt manoeuvres for the sake of propaganda?  Or was this a common practice?"

It's not necessarily the conversation, but the premise and delivery of the topic.  When you ask a bunch of serving soldiers, future soldiers, retired soldiers and people interested in the military in general, a question about casualties in a war due to injuries from vehicles rolling and such, then joke about it... jeez... thats just not on.
Some people, especially here, may take great offense to that.  Perhaps a members grandfather or great grandfather were part of the armoured corps during WW1... don't think they would take that as a joke.  Then consider the soldiers of todays conflicts who have died or have been injured in vehicle accidents... like roll overs...  Still a funny topic?

The title coupled with the topic are boarder line offensive... thus the dog pile.  It's hard to take this thread seriously when your title asks about death and your topic is a joke... so you're joking about death... or so it seems.  No on.

I'm quite surprised this hasn't been locked yet.

:warstory: OK, I did the first one, and it hurt like hell. Admittedly, I'd only been driving for a couple of days. It was hard to transition from the horse. I said "Whhoooaaaa, you gluebag!!!" and well.........it didn't listen  :warstory:
