Damn it!  They don't seem to sell it on line... :'(  It all looks delicious.

Could bacon get any tastier?

Pig scientists and breeders say indeed it could, now that the pig genome has been sequenced and a trove of new genetic information is available.

The Swine Genome Sequencing Consortium, an international group of researchers, published their analysis of the genome this week in Nature.

The group spelled out the pattern of DNA on all of the chromosomes of a female domesticated pig. That data is now freely available to anyone — in swine science and beyond.

(....)

Tastier pork could certainly be an outcome of this research, too, Schook and Dekkers say. What makes a pig tasty, however, is subject to debate and cultural preference. In some parts of Asia, Schook notes, breeders value fat content more than American breeders do.

Tenderness and meat color are other targets for breeders hoping to improve the pork on our plates ....

Company boasts so-called 'world's first' bacon shaving cream, but wait. Hasn't this been done before?

The self-styled "bacontrepreneurs" at J&D claim to have invented "the world's first bacon-scented shaving cream," but a Wisconsin-based shop has had something similar on the market for years.

"Yes, the world's first bacon-scented shaving cream. Prepare to be loved, admired and possibly eaten by bears," reads the press release for the new cream from the Seattle company known for its bacon lip-balm, bacon popcorn and bacon roses, to name a few.

But Mama Bear Soaps in Florence, Wis., was way ahead of the bacon trend, having offered a bacon-scented shaving soap since at least 2010.

"This smells just like fresh, maple-cured bacon right before you put it into the frying pan," the soap maker boasts.

But J&D is sticking by their claim.

"Bacon shaving soap is not bacon shaving cream, which delivers a luxuriously rich bacon lather. It's like comparing a Yugo to a Tesla or a deluxe ear-hair trimmer to a Q-Tip. Besides, who shaves with soap?" said J&D co-owner Dave Lefkow.

It appears a man named Adam Remillard does. In a review of the soap on Mama Bear's site, he wrote: "I do have to say, 5 stars for making it smell like real raw bacon."

QMI Agency asked Mama Bear what they thought of all the hype around J&D's product, but has not received a reply.

If only.
