Hello
Im going to be contacting a recruiter very soon and I guess I will be taking the tests and having the interview prety soon as well. So does anyone have any advice or tips, is there anything different that you would have done when applying?

Ihave advice...

You have never done drugs of any sort.

My best friend was just told yesterday to come back in 3 years because he said he has tried weed once!

oh and if you were in cadets, be sure to tell them in the interview

And if they asked you directly Hulk if you had done drugs and they found out you lied where do you think that would get you?

I told them I‘d tried weed, and they didn‘t care.
I wouldn‘t lie to them, in fact before they interview you they point to a sign that says witholding information could result in fines and jailtime etc.
Besides, they have your pee, they‘re going to know.

TELL THEM RIGHT OFF THAT YOU DO NOT WANT AIR DEFENCE!

I wouldn‘t tell them anything more then they need to know. If you had an injury of somesort, like broken bones or a dislocated something, but it does not bother you anymore, i would not tell them. Unless you want to wait more then you have to just keep all the minor things to yourself.

Smoking weed, on the other hand.....that is your call.

I‘ve never tried it myself, but how long does it take to completely get out of your system?

Hey guys it appears we have an Olympic Gold Medal winning Snowboarder on the forum now

I recommend against taking advice from jutes and Hulk.

To "mustard and chocolate", prove your integrity and the quality of your character with the truth. If you are told to reapply "next year" due to an application shortcoming, you‘ve got nothing to hide from them when the time comes.

A career founded on lies will only lead you to feel that you haven‘t _earned_ the privilege of being a Canadian soldier.

No offence jutes or Hulk, but there‘s nothing to be gained from hiding behind lies. Operations can fail and lives can be lost due to the product of a seemingly innocent lie.

It is incumbent on commanders to "know their men, and promote their welfare". How can this be accomplished if they‘re enlightened with bu||sh!t ?

Cheers.

When I told them I had done weed, they asked me why and other questions about it. Just prove to them youre not a dumbass and you should be fine.

That‘s some very sound advice there, stupid. So you‘re not even in the system yet... You claim to know more than me, eh... I guess we‘ll find out eventually; you know how the saying goes: "it‘s a small world", well, the CF are even smaller.
Now, for the others who are in the process of joining the CF: DO NOT LIE OR HIDE ANYTHING FROM THE RECRUITERS. You are only asking for trouble if you do. Some people are charged then released for doing these things. Be honest, it‘s one of the qualities we are looking for...
Finally, this should be moved to the recruiting section.
