Does anyone know if you can elect to take your IPR during IREM?

I recently got my disclosure package for a medical release and am hoping to request POR/IREM. The relocation directive says that at any time during POR you can elect for your IPR... but then for IREM you are subject to postings... which seems contradictory.

Does anyone know how IPR will work with IREM? I was hoping to get posted back home and start VPRSM for the final 6 months of my career but that would require me to be at my IPR.

Thank you!

you may want to hold off on the IPR then. IPR is simply selecting your intended place of residency on release which then enables you to move your family with HGE to that location. It does not have any actual bearing on your posting and could have negative impacts. Regulations have changed over the years but there was a case a while back where the member did that and then tried to get IR with SE as he wasn't posted. It was denied as he was not separated due to the military, he was separated due to his choice to move his family prior to release. This left him paying for two residences while begging to be posted. Also I believe the entitlements on a release posting are still different than a regular posting. Knew a WO in the late 90s that was moved on release, stressed to the agent several times it was a release but she still paid him as if it was a regular posting. When the file was audited a few months later he received a bill for approx $50k that he wasn't entitled to. He was going to redress it to make a point, don't know if he went through with it.

Didn't see a thread I felt comfortable with posting this so created here. If there is a suitable one please move.

At release brief I was given a form to complete for IPR when ready to move as I didn't identify a place at that time. We planned to wait until end of school year before moving. Forward a few months we selected a potential location so I contacted the release section to start the process. took a few emails and almost 2 months to get any reply which was to send me the form I already had for signature which I had already signed when I first reached out to them. Sent the signed page and again haven't heard anything since then which is making the family stress as we have to soon submit our notice to the landlord. Seems now that I am out the door everything is slo-mo compared to the rush when I was still in.

Big problem I have now is that my youngest is set on Gander NL, my family is insisting on renting where I would prefer to buy and when I search there is basically nothing I can find in Gander for rent. Every site I get directed to shows rentals that are not in Gander. Any chance that someone is located in Gander and can provide current information on the rental situation there? Reading old stuff just doesn't help as supposedly there is rentals that I just seem unable to find.

probably not the best place to look but here are some:

MLS shows nothing for rent but here is a list of available properties to buy

here's another site

Thanks for these, I didn't have the All Homes one and it did look promising but ended up having zero listings when I clicked on any that were shown. I have sent an email to the real estate company to enquire with the local experts on military moves if renting is a viable option. May have to convince the family on an alternate location if I can't convince to buy which in reality is highly unlikely after all these years. Renting seems to be the only option for the boss as buying is too permanent.

I'm going to refresh this as I have a question I'm trying to find the answer to.

I'm on the IREM program, i've elected for an early IPR, i've got my new house and have sold my old house which I'm moving into in May. The forces leave guide states you aren't allowed to take special leave for pack load clean upon release, however, I'm relocating due to a 3b medical release early IPR. I'm trying to find out where it states i'm entitled to pack load and unload unpack. I looked all day today, couldn't find it anywhere and the relocation isn't a posting.
