What LAV is it?  Could it be a Saudi?

Pretty sure it is KSA, LAV is turreted and beside it is one of the 4x4 vehicles the Saudi have bought in large numbers.

It is interesting footage, but while some will question the use of "drone" to describe a remotely piloted vehicle my frustration with the twisting of the English language rises on this example of using "suicide".  Who committed suicide?

Note the range display. Starting about 217 metres from “target”.  That implies some sort of target designation feature in the operators suite. Is that something typically available on a commercial or consumer drone?

A short ranged MG based system could deal with it, they aren't moving fast. I wonder if an optic scanner would work as a targeting system? That would avoid RF transmissions.

Not sure how it defeats the drone/UAV/whatever, and likely the how and how far is Opsec, but if the drone is image locked, it may not require any outside guidance.

Sometimes yes, sometimes no.  I've tracked pers on IR from pretty high up on with an MX-20.  Can't leave a cam net over all your footprints, as an example.

Yes, there is that aspect, I grant you. I was more getting at this: if you halt for more than x minutes, the cam net goes up (like the old days). Even the old cold war cam nets would capture a commercial grade RPAS pretty neatly. Even if it is set to go off on impact, you still cannot be talking a very big payload and you are unlikely to get much (if any) effect against an armoured vehicle. Sometimes, a simple, 80% solution is the best.

Oh yeah: air sentry. Start using them again, and maybe give him/her a shotgun.

We should. That goes for helmets too but, you know, 'Operator Cool' sometimes trumps battlefield demands
