Iranian President Ahmedjinad at his worst. Apparently he is banning the use of all foreign words in Farsi and replacing commonly foreign words like Pizza with the Farsi equivalent of "Elastic Loaves".

Reproduced under the...you know the drill.

[TEHRAN, Iran - Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad has ordered government and cultural bodies to use modified Persian words to replace foreign words that have crept into the language, such as "pizzas" which will now be known as "elastic loaves," state media reported Saturday.
The presidential decree, issued earlier this week, orders all governmental agencies, newspapers and publications to use words deemed more appropriate by the official language watchdog, the Farhangestan Zaban e Farsi, or Persian Academy, the Irna official news agency reported.

The academy has introduced more than 2,000 words as alternatives for some of the foreign words that have become commonly used in        Iran, mostly from Western languages. The government is less sensitive about Arabic words, because the Quran is written in Arabic.

Among other changes, a "chat" will become a "short talk" and a "cabin" will be renamed a "small room," according to official Web site of the academy.

Ahmejinad and other radicals' MYOPIC tendencies at their worst!

Guess I'm gonna have a hard time ordering my bacon, ham and pepperoni elastic loaf when I go to vacation there with my family.  Still, should wash down nicely with a beer from the local market.  :blotto:

I wonder what Ahmedjinad will replace the word "terrorist" with?  ::)

I knew I never imagined it:

Radical.

Some Iranian calling "Elastic Loaf Hut" to take an order.

"Can i get a medium elastic loaf, deep dish. umm, some mushroom, hamburger... i mean ground up cow, and a side of super salty fish. And a 2 liter Infidel-cola"

Yeah, I can just imagine John Bellushi working at the "Elastic Loaf Hut":

"No Infidel-cola, Pepsi"!  ;D

Replacing foreign words and phrases with more local language versions is pretty common. The French do it a lot. An example is replacing the word email with some invented french word. Not really like the Freedom Fries foolishness tho which was pretty funny since calling them French Fries to begin with was kind of an insult or putdown against French cuisine. It was also only required that they be Freedom Fries in the capital hill cafeterias.

I think that was the States with Freedom Fries.

The term "Freedom Fries" never really went into general usage at all. It was mostly a media thing.
