Should Canada :cdn: get back into the arena? That is the question. Now that Canada :cdn: has decided to take on a more proactive role ;D in the War on Terror. I believe it is time to get back into the arena. As a member of TF Phoenix 1st Kandak ETT on Roto 0 :warstory:, I believe we accomplished loads :army:. We probably could have accomplished more if we were allowed to accompany our comrades in arms from the ANA down range :threat:. So the question stands now do we step into the arena or sit on the sidelines? :skull:
I personally want to step back into the arena.

Cheers

Step it up...but you already know where I stand on it.

There is talk of them revisiting an ETT in Kandahar. Hopefully they get a go in Aug. It would be a waste if we don't.

BTW DD13...cool it on the smileys, or I'll have to come on to you in the canteen tomorrow.

You know me to well. Like they say at all the schools graphics help get the point across. Hopefully they do as I'm willing to deploy whenever, as my ruck is always packed and ready.

Cheers see ya tomorrow

DELTADOG13 out!

Ummm the ETT is still ongoing in Kabul,it never did shut down..Check facts then post.

FYI, CaNTC Det in Kabul is not an Embedded Training Team. ETT as the name implies are embedded with units of the ANA. CaNTC Det is a training team that has no unit that is attached to. The Kandaks come with their ETT's already assigned. Check with Armymedic if you need more clarification as he was one of the first to do The CaNTC and I was one of the first to do the ETT's. Check your facts.

Many uninformed believe that our small Canadian National Training Centre detachment in Kabul is a true Embedded Training Team. It however is not. Under TF Phoenix the CaNTC Det provides a finishing school for the ANA Kandaks to come together and do collective training at Platoon level. The ETT's are with their Kandaks wherever they go. In garrison, the field or on operations down range. Canadian ETT's have only participated in one operation in it's history in Kabul at the Loya Jirja in 03-04. The other ops were all cancelled due to lack of political will on Roto 2. That's the reason behind the CaNTC Det' role in Kabul. So as to keep us in the fight or at least having some influence on the fight.
Hopefully soon the CDS can get us back into the fight with our Afghan comrades in arms with the "true" ETT's. I guarentee you it is much more fun than training them and watching them go off to fight if you can join them in the fight. I think I've ranted enough for one night.

Peace out!

Sorry, MG, but DD13 is correct. We don't do the "embedded" part anymore.
The CFTPO hasn't caught up yet, so posns are still called ETT.

x2

I also had the pleasure of working as a temp with the "Finishing School".

I'm quite sure we could bring allot more to the table than the US National Guardsman who are doing it now.
