Based on the few courses that he has seen after four years, I am guessing the former.Teager said:You Res or Reg?

As a reservist, you can get the tractor and dump course. Boat operator is also open to reserve combat engineers.
To be honest, I'd really rather not get lost in the dark abyss/void of Heavy equipment. I've seen too many guys get their dump/back hoe quals and that's all they'll ever do for the rest of their careers despite their best efforts. No more courses/tasks once you get thrown into Heavy.NFLD Sapper said:Dump courses are now a unit responsibility since it was pushed out of the school....The only ones that I have heard have been 32/37/38 CER's running one.

•Soils Analyst
•Explosive Ordnance Disposal
•Instructional Techniques
As they progress in their career, Combat Engineers who demonstrate the required ability and potential will be offered advanced training. Available courses include:

So, with the exception of EOD (which as a reservist the chances of getting the course is nil), engineers can only get courses that make us only slightly more than glorified sand baggers?
Teager said:What is it your looking for course wise. There are plenty of opportunitys for other courses including jump, rappelling and as mentioned Combat Diver. It's all about being in the right place at the right time with the right quals in place.
If what's been listed doesn't intrest you maybe it's time to look for a new trade. Reserve life can get mundane but opportunity is always around.
