Just wondering I'm not done my MOC training yet, just wondering what math is needed for this. "Above-average mathematical ability is required for promotion to the higher ranks." - DND.ca just wondering, what sort of math this is talking about, such as like I'm I going to require math 30 applies (advanced circles, trig, calculus (spelling), etc...)
Thanks for your input,

I don't think that Field Engineering has changed that much since I was in, you boys still slooging out there can correct me, but the math I needed was to be able to round up to the nearest case of explosive, or to the nearest kilometer of ruck march, though I hear you're al fat and mechanized now  ;). If you are willing to take your boots off to count to 20, you should be fine. Seriously though, there is some algebra, thopugh mostly on courses. When employed, most calculations are on a chart done for you, or easily taken care of by computer. I can assure you that if you can turn on the computer that you are using, you are as smart as many of the snr NCO, and officers that I served with.

Take care, warriors

i am so smart.. i am so smart... s-m-r-t.. s-m-r-t...

That is a good question. I was wondering about that specific quote myself. What is involved in the math courses during the training for Engineer?

Cheers

Some very basic trigonometry and very basic algebra.  You would not even use a scientific calculator for that low  level.  Just remember:

√2 = 1.414

Haven't seen algebra on QL3/5 courses. But basic math is a must for demolition calcs.

Yeah, I'm not HORRIBLE in math, persey. I can get by... would like to improve though because you apparently need good math skills to get promoted n such... no?

Cheers

Gully,

Ouch! That hurt.  Where's the love Gully?  I can recall helping a couple of guys with the 1S tables in '91, maybe one of them was even a knuckle dragging, pathfinding, plane jumping Sapper with a black eye from the 'the Forge' that I know !

Like, dude, sorry. Again, the written word is sharper than when said with a smile in person. However, I meant many senior nco's, and some officers. I know you weren't one of the not so smart ones, although you were in the company of a few....... again, with a smile ;D

Don't worry the Eng.'s have a math course that you can take and this course gives you everything you will need in your career as a F.E. .
