Is the Esquimalt BMQ facilities solely for those out west to limit their travelling, expenses, and lifestyle changes - or can you request to have your BMQ there? I live in Ontario and see why I would be sent to St. Jeans, less expensive for the army and myself which is totally justified. I was just wondering if there was a choice or if it was based on your location?

Cheers

Basic Recruit Training was conducted in Esquimalt solely for the purpose of easing the strain on St. Jean. That school is now shut down, but with the requirement to train 5,000 regs and 3,000 reserves, maybe it will start up again.

Most of the training for the Western Canadian Land Forces takes place at the Wainwright, Alberta training center. A very very small town close to Edmonton.

This guy is asking about BMQs. there are no BMQ's in Wainwright except some summer reserve courses. Only SQ's and BIQ are ran in Wainwright. A lot of leadership courses are ran in Wainwright also.

Have you ever been in Wainwright? If yes, then main street is not all to it. Wainwright is actually not that small of a town. Its maybe hurting on businesses side, but definitely not in size.

It's St Jean, more accurately, St-Jean-sur-Richelieu, not St Jean's. There is no apostrophe "s" in the French language.

For all you nuggets that are concerned about living close to home, if that's an important thing for you, maybe you're not going to enjoy the military as much as you think you might. I haven't lived closer than 550km to home since I joined the CF.

St.John's Newfoundland - Edmonton Alberta 6375kms, definitely not close....Nuggets LMAO. All that being said with the new 5000 a three pronged training attack would be cool....Shilo or Wainwright for the west...St.Jean sur richelieu for Ontario and Quebec and Maybe Gagetown or Halifax for the east....Home Nuggets oh my F*CK, that is funny.
