As stated, I'm an ex Bootneck, struggling at an engineering degree I'm not sure I even feel committed to at this point. I have served oversees twice and was involved in the circuit in Iraq privately for two years, however... I'm 36 and not too keen on staring from the bottom all over again. Is there any dispensation given to experienced soldiers or am I looking at basic again?

There are a few threads about foreign nationals and the recruiting process on the site, our search function works very well.  In a nutshell, without Canadian citizenship, you're pretty well hooped.  If you made it in, you would likely get a basic training bypass, and possibly be enrolled as a Corporal, depending on qualification.

Booty PM sent, there were two Royals at CSOR who went direct entry in and had to do the CSOR course. One moved on to bigger and better things and the other found it "Pump".

Yup, that's true AFAIK. Try it and see what happens.

FWIW though, you should bust your boot neck to complete the engineering degree. That will have more currency than the trigger time, Commando course, the JLC or the SLC as far as Canada is concerned, especially for those of us with an 'infantry' specialty vs. something of more technical use to the CF.

Stay in school kids!

While you're at it, I'd suggest that you gather in refrence letters from previous commanders in the RM and elsewhere. They should explain what you did, when you did it and how well you did it, as not everything you did in the UK will automatically have an equivalent in Canada.

The best advice is, since you are in Canada already, is to head on down to a Recruiting Centre and see what the professionals say....

Thank-you gentlemen, particularly "Noneck"; as a result of this thread I've already met with and ex-Booty here in Edmonton of all places. "daftandbarmy" the school is a huge commitment thus far and despite best efforts I may be getting pushed before jumping (I'm on the Engineering faculties Dean's vacation list), however, I'm going to stick it out if allowed to.

Thanks again all for the advice and the leads.
