I saw a note this morning that Dave Winterburn (Fishbone Jones) died during a camping or hunting trip just a few weeks ago.
I’ve had the pleasure of meeting Mr. Winterburn several times when I lived in Ontario. He was a very colourful character, enjoyed his Whiskey and had some good and funny stories to share here and in person.

RIP Fishbone and my condolences to his family and the Windsors, who have lost a good man, a husband, father, grandpa, brother and uncle.

Ouch …

Agree or disagree with the guy, one passionate voice gone from the boards here. Condolences to family, colleagues & friends.

Damn. We defiantly lost a voice on these means.

Rest easy old boy.

Damn! I'd met him a few times while in uniform over the years. He was both knowledgeable and opinionated. He'll be missed on these means.

He helped to make this forum interesting . I might not have always agreed with him on some subjects . But more often then not I came away better informed and on more then one occasion amused.

Worked with Dave on Tour in Visoko 94/95. Just a few stories there.
His passing has been broadcast on the 8 CH(PL), RCD and Windsor Regt Nets, an indication of many of the lives he has touched.
RIP Dave.
You will be missed.
Until we meet again in the Leaguer in the Green Fields Beyond.
Thanks for posting that info George.
And also … it’s good to hear from you!

Well frig. This really, really sucks to read. Dave and I butted heads on here a lot of times over a lot of years (though we’re generally quite friendly in our less common friendly chats), but I respected him and his long service, and would have sat for a beer with him had our paths ever crossed.

I know how much he enjoyed getting out to hunt and camp, and I don’t know if it means anything in the end, but I hope he went out doing stuff he loved.

Rest in peace, Dave. If there’s an other side to see you on maybe we’ll chuck more shit some day.

I wondered why I hadn't seen anything from him lately. Sad news. :salute:

I was thinking that if heaven has a small arms locker and range, a whiskey bar, a free speech lounge and cussing room, he’s probably found them all by now.
