“When I was a boy of fourteen, my father was so ignorant I could hardly stand to have the old man around. But when I got to be twenty-one, I was astonished at how much he had learned in seven years.”

- Fathers Day Quote by: Mark Twain, “Old Times on the Mississippi” Atlantic Monthly, 1874

Motherhood is an act of love.

Fatherhood is an act of faith.

I didn't think I could love anyone more than I love myself until I became a Father.
Me.

"They say that from the instant he lays eyes on her, a father adores his daughter. Whoever she grows up to be, she is always to him that little girl in pigtails. She makes him feel like Christmas. In exchange, he makes a secret promise not to see the awkwardness of her teenage years, the mistakes she makes or the secrets she keeps."

This quote pretty much sums it up for me.  I always knew I would be a Dad, but if I never had kids I would have been okay with that.  Now being a Dad to a 2.5 year old girl, the tough experience with our first son, and having our second son expected to show up into this world in September, I cannot fathom the idea of not being a Dad.  It's the most frustrating and yet rewarding experience I could ever hope to have.  My little girl melts my heart on a daily basis almost to the point of tears (ya, I'm a big mushy sap) with the little things she does.  My daughter is the best thing that ever happened to me, and I look forward to seeing all of my children grow up.

Now for my own joke submission:
"When I was a kid, I said to my father one afternoon, 'Daddy, will you take me to the zoo?' He answered, 'If the zoo wants you, let them come and get you.'" - Jerry Lewis

*edit to add a word I forgot

Being a great father is like shaving. No matter how good you shaved today, you have to do it again tomorrow.

My father used to play with my brother and me in the yard.  Mother would come out and say, "You're tearing up the grass."  "We're not raising grass," Dad would reply.  "We're raising boys."  ~Harmon Killebrew
