FELLFAB Limited Awarded $18.9 Million Defence Contract

November 10 2003 -- FELLFAB Limited has recently been awarded an $18.9 million contract by the Department of National Defence to produce the Small Pack System. This is the second contract award in support of the Load Carriage System under the Department of National Defence’s Clothe the Soldier Program. The program, established in 1996, was implemented to provide 24 items of operational clothing and equipment to Canadian Forces personnel conducting land operations. The Small Pack System is the 15th item to reach contract award under this project.


The newly developed Small Pack System incorporates the advanced Canadian Disruptive Pattern (CADPAT™) digital camouflage. CADPAT™ is a significant step forward in camouflage, concealment and deception on the battlefield. The Small Pack System will provide load carriage in operations where soldiers are required to wear fragmentation protection and carry combat supplies and sustainment items sufficient for up to 24 hours. In addition to the soldier’s own carriage requirement, the Small Pack System will provide a means to carry the soldier’s share of section/platoon weapons, ammunition and mission-oriented stores.


This award comes almost 18 months following a previous award to FELLFAB Limited of $10.7 million for the first item in the Load Carriage System, the Tactical Vest. The contract is estimated to be completed over a two-year period and includes a sub-contract portion to Apparel Trimmings Inc. of Scarborough, Ontario.

Yay, a backpack...like everybody in the military hasn‘t already got one from the kitshop...hey idiots, try again.

Hey boys, its the system for the added pouches for the TV. The ruck is somebody elses project, and will be issued before the small packs are given out.
Also the small pack system are NOT the nbcw bags, like everyone has from the kitshop. Its to supplement load carrying for the tv and ruck, so you can carry ammo, rations or medical stuff on the ruck, then as you mission developes, attach it to your tv. In theory it sounds great, and works pretty good in real life.

Maybe you guys should look before you leap.

I don‘t know Bosnia Dude! I think the guys were commenting on the fact that everyone who wanted or needed a better backpack already got one from the kitshop... As far as I know, most of the good Kitshops stopped selling NBCW bag rip-offs and started selling Blackhawk, Camelbak, and packs from Eagle Industries. I don‘t know what they sell at the kitshop at Field Amb, but I think you guys are getting ripped off... You should come back over and visit ours...

I don‘t understand this backpack anyways, if it is supposed to supplement the TV, how the **** are you supposed to carry it if your wearing you ruck? I hope the ruck is designed along Brit Bergan lines, so I can have a 20 liter removable pouch/pack for that stuff, and leave the backpack in garrison where it belongs.

Any soldier can go and get a pack from the kitshop, but I sure can‘t get a C-17...

The ruck and new webbing are suppossed to be able to be worn together. The day pack is suppossed to be attached to the ruck.

Sounds like we‘ll be carrying fuggin houses on our backs. I have a prototype of the new ruck and its HUGE. Add on the daypack and its going to be about the size of and Iltis on my back. I hope they are developing a new Sleeping Bag, cuz its a pain in the *** jamming the current one in the new ruck. :fifty: :gunner:

But you are generally right about the backpacks, but we need something similar to small pouch(butt pack) to carry extra stuff with the TV. And also our new medic jumpbags are with that contract as well, apparently...
