Was poking around on the DIN looking for information on field fortifications, road blocks, etc, couldn't really find anything... anyone know the names/numbers of any of the applicable pubs?

For clarification, mostly for road blocks and VCPs, again, if anyone can point me in the right direction.

Have a look here, by the way.  What is your interest in this?

Curiosity mostly, with regards to the VCPs, I've built a few on exercises, was just looking to read the "text book" method. The website you mentioned seemed to be mostly booby-traps, which really isn't what I was looking for, but I'll pick through it when I get a chance.

The book can teach you but over all it ends up what is at hand and know how to use it. ;)

In the old day's when filling a sand bag was a mixture of lime ? what ever to make a concrete wall!
I was taught that but we no longer recognise what was in the past in regards to Field Engineering? Our basics will alway's live if we keep the basic' alive.
How many know how to do a "Gin and Shear"?
Ariel Rope Way?
Hold fast's?
Just basic Sapper Knowledge!
Should still be taught!!

Hi Earl! Happy New Year by the way. So this isn't taught anymore? I know..no time = right? Yet isn't this the essence of field engineering - using your head, finding a way to get things going, with what you have at hand. Mind you some 30 years ago I didn't get much chainsaw training. Surely a lot of these skills can be in particular, part of a training night in a reserve field squadron? I guess this comes back to the question "What is a sapper?"

Amazing how i can still remember how to do all that after 2 years out of the trade !!  When i left CFSME we were still teaching gin and shear to the QL3s and design to the  recce/ops course.

It is taught on the res Sect. 2 i/c (old QL5) course. I did it on both my 3's and 5's and also this year with my unit. :threat:
