I am looking at going in DEO for Armour. I get lots of good information on the website but I guess my question really has to do with day to day work life. What do you do in the average week? What happens in the early stages of your career versus the latter?

Is there any sort of program that would allow for a person to meet up with someone in their chosen field to get assistance with what could be seen as the details? I was thinking of a mentor program or having the opportunity to shadow someone in your chosen field. Any help or ideas would be awesome. God Bless

My husband has done that before. He called up the local unit and went for the day to experience it. He loved it.
Now keep in mind, he is currently a member and is looking into changing trades, so it is probably easier for him than just any bloke off the street.

Maybe try calling up the CFRC and asking them about it.

There are no specific mentoring programs.  However, most CFRC/Ds will have a conact list consisting of those serving members in the local area who are willing to answer potential applicant questions.  Now whether one of them would willing to have someone follow them around for the day? Probably not given the liability and security risks associated with that but some military parents do bring their kids to work on certain days so maybe it is possible.

I know that many of today's applicants want to know every possible thing about the career they are interested in but do you honestly think that by following someone around for a day or even a week is going to help make up their minds?  There is no possible way that someone could show what happens to them for an entire career in a short time and any longer would just logistically impossible.  In fact most careers will be individually different for the most part.  I look at the recruiting information available nowadays and I am truly amazed at the information that is available to potential applicants to help make up their minds.
