Currently I'm in the process of joining the CAF and I'm wondering at what point of the recruitment process is the fitness test, what exercises do you have to do in it, and what are the minimums in each for the age group of 17-25?

You should start by exercising  (ha!) your Google and Army.ca search function abilities...

http://www.cg.cfpsa.ca/CG-PC/OTTAWA/EN/FITNESSANDSPORTS/MILITARYFITNESS/CFEXPRESTESTING/Pages/NewCanadianArmedForcesminimumphysicalfitnessstandard.aspx

If you are applying for Reserves, your test will be done as part of the recruiting process (you must pass to continue).  If Reg Force, you will do the test after arriving at CFLRS.  You will be briefed then on what the "minimums" are you need to attain to continue on training.  But for now...this is the (I believe) old test info.

Search the site for PT testing CFLRS or similar key words and read up on the tons of info already posted.

Simply put, within the first week but not definitely later than the second.

Most recent information ------>  http://www.cflrs.forces.ca/menu/ps/rec/ec-pf/index-eng.asp

The fitness test is called the FORCE test. I've noticed that some people have done this test during the recruiting process. This test is given during week 1 of BMQ. There seems to be an inconsistency in the information as to what the test entails and when you are tested.

The above link is to information on the FORCE test. The actual test may vary.

As for exercises to do to get in shape for it, I would recommend full body exercise and cardio.
From what I have read by the start of BMQ you should be able to run 5k.
Best to be in the best shape you can be before starting BMQ.

Just keep in mind the recruiting process can take time and a lot of it. Patience is an important thing to have
