Hey all. I was just wondering, would me being flat footed hinder my chances of getting into the military at all?

Thanks,
Dave.

You asked a question that required a yes or no answer, and I gave one, but alrighty then.  there are physical and medical standards that must be met in order to be enrolled in the CF.  Two feet that can hold you up all day and be slammed around the parade square, run a long way, or hump heavy loads a longer way are one (okay, two) such requirements.

Welcome  Dave111222,

We've covered your question a couple of times previously. Please do an advanced seach, in the Recruiting Forum, to find your info. It is also a requirement to read the site guidelines. Please do that also in the near future.

I am fully flat-footed. No arch, whatsoever. I was given custom orthotics by the CF for it.

To give you a numerical idea, the specialist I saw four years ago @ LFCATC Meaford used a 12-point scale to measure flat-footedness, with '1' having too-high of an arch and '12' being entirely flat footed, with no arch at all. Guess what I am?

Anyway, point is, I'm in the CF, have been in both the reserves and the reg force, and thus far it has not hindered my career in any way. As I said, the CF gave me orthotics for the issue with absolutely no hassle.

I do, however, have the occasional wildly painful Charley Horse in my feet from the muscle(s) in my flat feet seizing up when I'm walking around barefoot...

Best of luck

Then I guess the military has changed, knock yourself out and have fun.

Thanks a lot Infamous, you've been incredibly helpful.    Thank to all that posted.
