Florida Man

Florida man meets Florida woman.

Florida woman says hold my beer.

I have climbed Mt Shasta... with several other well trained people, roped together, wearing crampons, carrying an ice axe and a load of warm gear.

The fact that this (Florida Man) idiot is still alive is a miracle...

TRAPPED ON A GLACIER: RESCUE ON MOUNT SHASTA

Shasta-Trinity National Forest climbing rangers, along with local and state cooperating agencies, successfully rescued an injured climber from the upper slopes of Mount Shasta after the climber became stranded for two days on the Whitney Glacier.

In what turned out to be a complicated and difficult operation, the climber, a 39-year-old Florida man, made it off the mountain Tuesday evening after injuring his leg on the glacier while downclimbing the mountain Sunday evening.

The climber ascended the mountain via the Avalanche Gulch route and summited the mountain later in the day Sunday. The climber told climbing rangers that his GPS navigation tool advised him to descend on the north side of the mountain – the opposite side in which he ascended – down the Whitney Glacier.

The climber did not have snow and ice equipment and was dressed in sweatpants and a hoodie. He did have a pair of trekking poles and a small amount of food and water.

While descending the glacier, he stepped through a thin snow bridge that concealed a crevasse, injuring his leg. The injury prevented him from descending further, prompting a call for help.

Due to lateness in the day and poor weather conditions, rescuers were unable to reach the climber Sunday night. The climber was forced to spend the night on Mount Shasta at 12,100 feet in what is known to be the coldest part of the mountain.

I read that yesterday. Misleading headline: the cops were called because of the parent, not the child.

That said, the kid is really good but I can understand other parents wanting their children to be able to play and develop skills.

Nevada would be better off if his parents put him in a different league.

I saw that somewhere else...I always say parents should have a containment area away from gen pop where they can slug it out/yell at the refs/slag the other players down...completely out of contact with the players and the rest of the people trying to watch the game.
I once broke up a fist fight between two opposing coaches at one of my nine year old's league games. One of the coaches was so loud and disruptive that the parents on both teams had nicknamed her "Shrieky".

I decked another kid when I was playing box Lacrosse, which is why I liked playing defence, against Delta many years ago.

His old man tried to punch me as I was leaving the floor after the game, so I decked him too. Cross checked him right in the face and he went down hard.

I miss Lower Mainland junior lacrosse from the 70s some days. ;)
