I've tried searching but links that people post, aren't working or the information is convoluted. What if any, kit can an EX member wear? I'm technically on sup reserve. The reason I ask is I'm heading to Normandy beaches in Feb, and I want to pay my respects. It would be nice to wear something other than my regiments pin. But I don't know to what extent I can do. I have a couple medals from Bos and whatnot. I was just curious to see what regulations there are for that?

Do you have a Regimental Association? Perhaps you could join, and if so, they may have a headdress, blazer with Regimental crest etc you could wear with your decorations.

Good luck.

Here are two excerpts from the dress regs.  It's not clear to me which would apply to Sup Res members.

38. Reserve Force. Members of the Reserve
Force shall not wear uniform except when:
a. on duty, or proceeding to or from their place
of duty;
b. attending a military function or ceremony at
which the wearing of uniform is appropriate;
or
c. Reserve Force members on Class C
employment are deemed to be in the Regular
Force. See paragraph 36.

44. Former Members. A former CF member
released from the Regular or Reserve Force, other
than by reasons of misconduct, may seek permission
to wear uniform on specific occasions as specified in
QR&O 17.06. If permission is granted, they shall
wear the uniforms and insignia which applied when
they last served.

I have to ask the question as to why you would have to wear something to pay your respects?
If you want to wear the uniform then get ahold of the Supp Reserve cell in charge of you and seek permission.

Going back to my question. I see more and more of this comming out, people want to wear their uniform to pay respects as Rememberance Day, Peacekeepers day etc. Why? IF you want to wear the uniform then Join back up. Or at the very least join the Legion, they wear a distinctive blazer with head dress.
If you have medals you can wear them on your civie attire while on your trip. Or better yet as indicated get ahold of your former Regiment and either join them or purchase a Blazer and some shirts/ ties with the Regimental insignia on them. The places you are going to visit will be very forth comming with you either way. The people are wonderfull. They will most certainly have a long chat with you.

Good luck in your trip. Just Remember if you are wearing your Uniform while visiting the memorials you are being an Ambassador for the Canadian Forces and those who fought and the people of Canada.
