As you can probably tell from my name, I'm not actually in the forces myself, but my husband is.   Next month we will be moving to CFB Gagetown, and I was wondering if anybody knows of any forums or web groups like this one for military spouses, girlfriends, fiancées, etc.   I will know absolutely nobody other than my husband and am hoping to maybe make a few contacts before I move.   We're fairly young (22 & 26) and currently reside in Kingston, ON, but not on base.   My husband is bilingual, and I'm working on it.   I'm actually looking forward to moving to a bilingual province so that I can become fluent in French.   If anybody knows of any forums or groups, it would be much appreciated if you would let me know.

Merci beaucoup!   :)

Your best bet might be to check with the Family Resource Centre in Kingston, to see what information they can provide through the Gagetown FRC on points of contact and members in Gagetown that might like to be a local host for you to get to know the area.

I'm not sure how helpful this will be to you, but it's a website by a Canadian military wife.

Thank you very much for your help...much appreciated!  :)

I don't know of any "online" sites that would help, however, I can give you some guidance as to  how to get involved and be busy here in Oromocto (CFB Gagetown).  The MFRC seems to be very active providing support for spouses/kids.  The base gym is great and there are alot of outdoor activities to participate in eg. trails behind the gym and new rollar blading circuit by the ball field.  Fredericton is just a stones throw away.  It has two universities (if you feel like taking a class), farmers markets, the Playhouse (a theatre), malls, great pubs and restaurants outdoor concerts in Soldiers square, etc.  I do believe that the 2nd language school on base often runs french/english courses for spouses so you could be in luck.

Hope you guys enjoy your stay here, if you have any questions about the area, let me know....
