Rogers Cable Picks Up Fox News

Toronto, ON, December 16, 2004:  Rogers Cable announced today that it has added Fox News Channel, the top-rated U.S. cable news network, to its all-digital channel line-up, claiming to be the first in Canada to do so.  Starting today, Rogers Digital Cable customers in Ontario and New Brunswick will receive a 90 day free preview of Fox News on channel 197.

Fox News is a 24-hour, seven-day-a-week national U.S. cable news network that delivers news coverage of the day's events. The service broadcasts original news and information programs including live breaking-news stories, and coverage of significant events in the U.S. and around the World.

"Rogers continues to offer the widest range of viewing options to its customers with the most sports, the most movies, and now the most news channels," commented David Purdy, Vice President and General Manager, Television, Rogers Cable Inc. "The addition of Fox News to our channel line-up is consistent with our philosophy to provide access to the best selection of available Canadian and international services."

Rogers Cable Inc. is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Rogers Communications Inc.  For more information, visit www.rogers.com.

Personally not a big fan of Fox News but some members on this board apparantly wanted it so just a heads up for you guys.

Great, just what Canada needed.. I strongly dislike Fox news.. After watching it for an hour I feel like my house is about to be broken into by african-canadians, my car bombed by terrorists, and that xxx pill/drink/food/etc is going to kill me without me knowing.

I've been too busy to watch it but I look forward to it. :)

Nail struck, on head.

We have had it here since pay TV has been here (1996). Overall although sensationalising things, almost tabloid in behaviour, and typical media over-kill, FOX is more pro-military than the others (supports the troops 110%), and in a sense maybe extreme patriotism, but I watch it first before CNNI, BBC, and Sky.

You like Ollie North's War Stories. A good series, plus, FOX's position is more right winged than most (which I like).

Anyways, enjoy FOX, and when you are watching it live, so am I over here (and if I am home).

Its good to get opinions on the news by more than one source (mostly left these days), and this is just another avenue to obtain such.

Hanity and Coombs, Bill Oriely, Greta, and Dayside , plus Neil the Nerd. You'll get to know them all. ;D

Cheers,

Wes

I can't afford anything more than basic cable anyways. I think it will be good because it will give more of a variety of news on the t.v (I can barely stand the fox news that is on the regular cable, let alone a 24 hour news network.)

Thats when I change the channel to either the history or the discovery channels. Reading the Ottawa Citizen in the mornings is usually enough for me.

I seriously hope that this isn't the norm for Fox News...

I seen that clip before and I hope that if and when the station comes here, they get different people to do it...I hate Ann coulter!!!

Of all the people we send to defend Canada, its Carolyn Parrish. God help us all..

yeah, I don't think we sent her, rather CNN probably sought her out.  Although, I could see a new show in the works, maybe a joint venture between CNN and CBC Newsworld, I don't have a title yet but it would basically be Parrish and Carlson talking for a half hour about Canada and America's relationship.  What y'alll think?

lol
