For my fellow nerds out there.

Yeah, saw this elsewhere.  D&D and Wargaming ate more than their share of my teen years.

D&D and RPGS and board games still takes of my time.... the guy did the good stuff.

My lvl 11 Half-elf Wizard hat is off to Mr. Gygax and my condolences to his family.

I don't know if he helped me become a better person or anything like that, but it was much better to be amongst a group of 10 geeks in jr high than being a lone target lol. Spent a lot of hours in dank basements eating chips and drinking Mountain Dew because of this man and TSR.

Actually, I am going to a game convention this month ;D We'll have to set up a classic game of AD&D in his honour.

Gygax died the morning of March 4, 2008, at his home in Lake Geneva, Wisconsin. He was in semi-retirement, having almost suffered a heart attack after receiving incorrect medication to prevent further strokes after those on April 1 and May 4, 2004. He was diagnosed with an inoperable abdominal aortic aneurysm. Even while his health failed, gaming remained very much a part of his life. Gygax was still active in the gaming community and had active Q & A forums on gaming websites such as Dragonsfoot and EN World.

“ I would like the world to remember me as the guy who really enjoyed playing games and sharing his knowledge and his fun pastimes with everybody else."

I was saddened to hear of Gary Gygax's passing.  His activities had a direct effect on my development in the late 70s and early 80s participating in dungeons and dragons (D&D) and a love for board games: from Risk and Diplomacy all the way through to Squad Leader.  It's probably been well over 20 years since I tossed a 20 sided dice but I fondly remember the camaraderie and fun my friends and I spent in basements and trailers (often playing well into the night).  The imaginative fantasy world he created was a wonderful experience for a kid to have been exposed to.

Rest in peace.

Thanks, but I can't take credit.  That was on Digg.com.    My sick sense of humour found it funny and I had to repost it.

... heh...  Rolling in his grave...  good stuff.

Looks like he failed his saving throw....

Sorry - I saw it somewhere else and thought it was pretty damn funny once I had it explained to me.
