Just finished reading a book called 'The War Against the Terrorists - How to Win It' (Charter Books , NY/NY; 1987); the same author also wrote 'Five Fingers' (which I read years ago), The Specialist, and Teheran Contract.  The author claims to be a former counter-terrorism specialist and Vietnam Vet from New Zealand.

I was very impressed as many of the suggestions are being used today.  However, can anyone confirm or deny rumours as to whether this is a real person?

Quagmire: Yes I already did an internet search on the subject and have seen those posts.  Altogether, they were inconclusive, some claim BS others claim supporting evidence.  Thats why I adressed the question here.  Does anyone on Army.ca have any shining lights on this subject?

Well Centurian as your aware many here just post a question without doing research.  Kudo's to you for looking into it first.

Well I don't know how reliable this is but I found the following:

Gayle Rivers, a New Zealand counterterrorism expert,
takes exception to the judicial method of trying and
punishing terrorists.  "A terrorist who is allowed to live
and goes to prison quickly becomes the direct cause of
another terrorist act to free him. "(16:33)  The Irish
Republican Army terrorists in British jails serve as a symbol
for the rest of the movement.  One of the demands most often
surfaced in a hostage situation is the release of jailed
terrorists.  While seeking due process for international
terrorists may be the noble thing to do, it may actually
exacerbate the problem.
