I was going to suggest that if you can add an AI turret to a C6 the way the USMC is then you can ptobably do it to the Bofors.

Here you go mate.

First developed in the late 1950s, the Oerlikon 35mm is one of the most widely used modern anti-aircraft guns.

Used by the Canadian Army 1989 to 2005, the guns provided low-level air defence for two Canadian NATO airfields in Germany. Normally controlled in pairs by a Skyguard radar, the GDF-005 was also fitted with a Gun King 3D computer-controlled sight with a laser range finder and digital fire control system, allowing it to function independently if required.

The Canadian batteries consisted of four Skyguard radars and eight GDF-005 guns. Guns captured from the Argentine forces during the Falkland War in 1982 were put into British service.

That one's at a the RCA museum. The rest were in storage in Montreal as late as 3008.

This seems to purchase two batteries, each with 3 launch trucks with 8 CAMM or CAMM-ER missiles, a Giraffe radar truck and a Command truck.
CAMM costs on the order of 2 MCAD a shot and CAMM-ER is about 3 MCAD.
 
That Bullfrog AI powered GPMG turret that the USMC are purchasing to complement their L-MADIS CUAS system - apparently it also tracks people.

This I'd like as an RWS on quite a few armoured systems. I note that there is a Bullfrog M2 for the 12.7mm and a range of 1,500 m.
Every SP should have one. Also a Bullfrog 230 with a 30mm under development.

Perhaps I wasn't clear enough.

With an example of a light truck system like this where there are light missiles/rockets on board I think that the addition of a gun would be a good idea. I think the .50 is the better solution as it isn't too heavy for the vehicle. A 30mm would be. IMHO one needs to pair a small rocket/gun vehicle with a vehicle robust enough to carry the 30mm. Effectively you have a team that has the necessary sensor/targeting system for CUAS and light aircraft work which can select from a .50, a 30mm or a rocket to engage as appropriate. When I mentioned the TAPV I wasn't sure whether it was robust enough (and maybe too tall) to be able to mount a 30mm and rocket pods as well and fire sideways off of it.

These would work well in rear areas. In forward areas I think a heavier chassied (and lowered hull) armoured vehicle based on a 30/35mm gun and rockets/missiles would probably be technically feasible and desireable.

I wonder how well it works when there are friendly troops in the area? That's my concern with any of the automated C-UAS systems. Will it become a tactic to intentionally fly drones in between two units in order to hopefully generate a friendly fire incident?

Thus armour.

One tactic I remember reading about was tanks machine gunning their wingmen to sweep enemy troops off them in urban areas.

In any case, all of these systems are man-in-the-loop or man-on-the-loop. They are all supervised.

I understand the Naval version involves a command "Weapons Free" or something like that to prevent shooting down passing civilian airliners.

Edit: I'd like the system on a trailer with a battery pack that could be porteed or towed for infantry units.

The Americans seem to be moving away from the 12.7/40 combination towards the multipurpose 30x113.

My esteem for the 40mm is pretty low. Fine on the defensive, never should have been widespread on the vehicles expected to come into contact with enemy forces. Nothing wrong with 50s. A 50/30 mix is better than a 40/50 mix imo.
