Gen. David Petraeus and his medals

Perhaps maybe....but Cdn para wings...

Well that goes without saying, obviously.  Lithuanian ones look pretty sharp though, and I got to jump out of an AN2 Biplane at 65 knots from 2,500 AGL onto the softest drop zone ever to get them.

I don't actually have Brit or French ones though, but anything Francais = ghey.

Funny, I've found that gravity, like proofreading, works equally well on both sides of the Channel....

...regardless of what boyscout badge  ooohhh  parachute badge worn  ::)

Really?  Like this*:

*French Foreign Legion Jump Wings.

Personally I am more impressed by the ones worn by the guy that stays with the airplane.  :)

Obviously my statement was tongue-dans-cheek.  I was poking fun of myself anyway because of how absurd it is to say one country's wings are better than another (assuming all you had to do to get them as a Canadian was the generic one jump).

What truly gets me though, is how the army gives "wings" to people that jump out of fully serviceable aircrafts: Hey! They are falling, not flying.

In the Navy, when we give little dolphins to people that jump out of fully serviceable ships, its because they are actually swimming. :)

Yeah...try using a parachute in the water and see how far that gets you.... ;D

little dolphins

enough said ;D

There are wings that I don't really care for, such as this one. A bit on the "battish" side,
with a slight "Nazi" tendency. ::)

Well, yes: "little" dolphins = divers, "big" dolphins = submariners.

Isn't it the same in your world? "little" wings = paratroopers, "big" wings = pilots?

Remember: Air forces are one hundred years of progress unimpeded by traditions. Navies are thousand of years of traditions unimpeded by progress!

Them's fightin' words!

Lets put 100 paratroopers and 100 pilots in a closed room and see who emerges  ;)

Better yet, lets drop those two hundreds from 10,000 feet, no special equipment allowed, and see what percentage from each group can actually fly.

Meanwhile, we'll drop 100 each submariners and divers over the side, no special equipment: I bet 100% can swim in both cases. :) :) :)

Don't get me wrong oldboatdriver, I have a lot of respect for the Navy. In fact the CAR did do some
beach landing exercises on the east coast. We went out to the high seas and I was undoubtedly
initiated to my first seasick puke. ::) Some of us are just not cut out to be in the navy. It was, however, a great experience for me.
Oh......I suppose "little wings"= red maple leaf, "big wings"= white maple leaf (actually silver).
And pilot wings are a whole different ball game.

Do not get me wrong either 57Chevy. I have great respect for people that jump out of perfectly good planes and go on fighting on the ground on top of that. I just don't understand why the badge has wings attached to the parachute. Besides, I don't like going on a plane even when I'm expected to stay inside it for the whole duration. To each his own.

Next time you go for an ex with the Navy, don't play tough guy - take the pills. Even after more than 30 years, I take them for the first few days until I get my legs back if I have been ashore for a little while. Pride just isn't worth the suffering.

It has to do with this symbol for all airborne forces: Pegasus

No, my friend.  Perhaps in the past with the pin but white leaf wings are now quite white.

And as a little addition to your other post, do not forget about Bellerophon (it's not just Pegasus fighting Chimera, after all).

Real men wear these

Smart men buy them for a couple of buck in the Patpong night market, stall next to the good fake Rolexes
