Gen. David Petraeus and his medals

No, my friend.  Perhaps in the past with the pin but white leaf wings are now quite white.

And as a little addition to your other post, do not forget about Bellerophon (it's not just Pegasus fighting Chimera, after all).
Do they make the embroidered white maple leaf wings now?
Did they do away with the "silver maple leaf pin"?
Bellerophon is him riding pegasus....makes sense.
Airborne!!!

Smart men buy them for a couple of buck in the Patpong night market, stall next to the good fake Rolexes

Royal Thai Army Baloon Jump Wings. I kid you not. 8)
I don't doubt you, the brits do their training jumps from a baloon, or at least they used to.

I don't think it's working because you need a password to see that album.

Anyways the pic/badge you wanted to post

agreed......but only some of those fine gentlemen wore this:

57 Chevy,

Yessir, the white wings are now white across the board.  The embroidered one is white stitching, and the paint on the metal ones is white (see attached that I just took).  It's hard to see in the photo, but the parachute thread is actually silver and makes the white thread of the leaf look even whiter.

As for the silver pin, it is still something worn unofficially on DEUs by some people who served in the actual Airborne Regiment (not me), but not by those who wore the maroon beret in one of the Para companies (me).

It is slowly dying off as there are less and less CAR members left, and nobody really has the balls or desire to say "You can't wear that anymore" since all the ones who are left are WOs+ now.

Well aren't they a true beauty to see.
My "silver leaf" has become quite tarnished.....almost somewhat black looking ;D, but I cherish
greatly the little relic.
Thanks for the update on that. :salute:

It's strange now that you've got me thinking about it because the ones they give you in Trenton at the end of Basic Para are very different than the "official" ones you get at the tailer.

The official ones have gold wings and black stitching separating the wing feathers for both the red and white wings.  The ones from Trenton (only red) have yellow wings and no black thread separating the feathers.

They look like the old workdress wings ;D
Actually they are the same ones I got from my jump course in Edmonton. And those are the ones I
wore on my CF. Somewhere along the line they changed the pattern to the new version.
Maybe they are just getting rid of the old stock.
Here are the ones I have:

With silver maple leaf:

I should get myself a set of those new white ones  8)

Nice.  Is that background your table cloth or are they on your desert uniform from the time you fought the Afrika Korps?  ;)

Good one ;D.........It's a placemat. I thought of placing it onto a piece of an old maroon T-shirt, at
least what's left of it ::)
