General John Burgoyne (24 February 1722 – 4 August 1792) was a British army officer, politician and dramatist.

American War of Independence. There is a Canadian link - Saratoga Campaign.

Why is this being posted?? Apparently the San Antonio PD arrested a Canadian who had in his possession: Lt. Gen. Burgoyne Book (a journal) dated 1780. No idea what is in it. Saw a quick picture of the journal on TV.

It is being auctioned by the SAPD: http://www.sanantonio.gov/SAPD/auction.asp?res=1536&ver=true

Possibly someone here can contact interested parties. On sale tonight 19 Nov 09. Note SAPD phone number. If I can assist someone interested, send PM. Sorry, only saw this on the evening news tonight.

Possibly it is this

"A letter from Lieut. Gen. Burgoyne to his constituents, upon his late resignation: with the correspondences between the secretaries of war and him, relative to his return to America" dated 1779
perhaps a 2nd printing ?

Available as a pdf at http://www.archive.org/details/cihm_20590

Don't think so. Does not look similar. Also dated 1780.
