DGLRes keeps an open door to Army Reservists
Brigadier-General Dennis Tabbenor, Director General Land Reserve, invites you to attend the second live web town hall on December 7 from 6:30 pm to 10:00 pm EST. Two subject matter experts will be joining the conversation to discuss individual training and operations.
In order to participate you must first register to the discussion forum on the Army website www.army.gc.ca, in the Your Voice section. Once you’re registered, you can begin to submit your questions.
The following is an excerpt from an interview between BGen Tabbenor and Josée Houde and Ben Myers, who produce the Army New Podcast. The full interview is available on the Army website.
Josée Houde: Sir, what is the purpose of these town halls?
BGen Tabbenor: I think the purpose of the town hall is to allow the soldiers out there who like to be online to have the opportunity to talk to myself as a senior Army Reservist on issues that are of concern to them as Reservists. Some people are not necessarily comfortable with asking these questions to their chain of command and the Internet town hall is sort of a way of allowing them to ask their questions without putting themselves out there…
Josée Houde: Who will benefit from these town halls?
Bgen Tabbenor : I think there are a number of people who will benefit. First of all, I benefit because I get a good idea of what is bothering soldiers out there or what questions they have. If I can locate a trend, I can then go down through the Army chain of command and say “Ok, we haven’t been good at answering this question, perhaps we can provide more information to the soldiers.” On the other side, I think the soldiers who are asking the question and who are listening benefit as well because it provides them a greater depth of knowledge of the Army and the Army Reserve and where they fit within it. So I think everybody benefits.
