Well,

I dropped off the application for DEO (Arm/Inf/Art) last week. CFAT was booked for earlier this week. Then they asked, could you do the medical and interview as well? - Sure I said. (I thought the process was going to take weeks, but no complaining right?)

So - CFAT went well, if you did OK in math and English, you will be fine. I promise.

I did get a funny look when I filled out the drug sheet. I guess the world hasn't many tea-totallers left.

Medical went OK, blood pressure a little high but I was waived without even taking a second reading. (I have tested as low as 115/75 in recent weeks with a proper 5 minute rest and as high as 140/95, my result on this day was an acceptable middle ground). Vision -A-OK - V2. Cough cough breath. History and such, whats a few broken bones and tendon injuries between friends? The important thing, is I have recovered 100% and resumed an fully active life (8 + hours / week exercise over past year) - and I was cleared on site.

Interview - a very friendly 2nd LT spoke with me for a while, no details people, rules are rules. He told me to chill out for 10 minutes, brought me back in and broke the news - I have no problem recommending you. As far as we knew, I just need my Enhanced Reliability Check and they would look at merit listing me. He figured it shouldn't take too long.

Well, I phoned back 10 minutes after leaving to ask if I need to do a PT test. I was told no, it would be done at St Jean and that I i had just been merit listed, an offer could be made within a week for Mar 08, but Jan 08 was full and I would only get an offer for Jan 08 if someone dropped.

Pardon? . . . ?

That's right - application, CFAT, Medical, Interview, ERC (had already come back) and Merit listed in all of 6 days.

I am still not sure to believe this has all happened so smoothly. But I know two things,

1. Thanks. Thank you. I deeply appreciate everything. All of the posts here have helped me in many ways. To anyone thinking of applying, or wondering what's happening, the answers can be found between here, your CFRC and the DND site. Do your research and come to appreciate all of the info and encouragement found here.

2. Dot the I's and cross the T's. It does help - really. That and polish your shoes for every step.

Now it still isn't over. I still get to wait for the call. I really, really hope it doesn't take months.

Is this really happening?  :D

I feel the same way, when I first applied I thought it would take at LEAST 6 months, but got a job offer in just over a month from handing in my application, if you don't have any medical issues or criminal/credit problems then its a smooth process

First of all, good for you that's really great your application went so well.  Good to hear.
As for the reason why?...

Arti, and Arm, are both trades that are in high demand right now, so that is probally a big reason why it was so smooth for you.  My application process has not been bad but just so you have the comparison, I handed in all my paper work and CFAT and and Interview in early Augest, had my Medical sent to Ottawa on Sep. 20th.  It came back a 5 weeks later, then I was merit listed right after that.  And as of now I'm currently attempting to beat out all the other MedTech applicants for BMQ in Jan lol.  So ya it depends on what your in for, how good you are at that questionair, and of course sheer dumb luck.

Anyways, like I said congratulations, and good luck

All the best, Kyle

That's how long it should take if everything goes well. I know of an NCM applicant who did TIMS (testing, interview and Medical) on a Wednesday. His ERC was finalized before the TIMS and he had a job offer same day. He was enrolled on Friday and left for St. Jean on Saturday.

This is the fastest I've personally seen. It depends on having all the right factors and people available at the same time.

The bad news is that DEO postions are limited right now and there are currently no BMOQ positions available. The March timeframe is most likely at this time.

Update time.

After a speedy beginning to being merit listed, the more traditional pattern fell into place. It became a question of when the next BMOQ would be. There were repeated rumours of earlier dates, but in the end, the next BMOQ was the one starting right after the Jan BMOQ ended, in May 08.

I know this now because I got the call for Artillery Officer and begin on May 5. It might be 3 months away, but it feels a lot closer than that! (so much to do)

To anyone reading these threads looking to understand what you might go through (as I did), I hope my experience helps to show you how things might go, and how rewarding the feeling is at the end of recruiting process. Now I can begin to look forward to the much more interesting future.

No kidding about the speed of this, man.

I applied on December 30th, I'm going to BMQ in two weeks!
