Today I was informed that I was chosen to give a toast to the parents of my highschool grad class. I have just one problem I have no idea what to say, I know I should keep it pretty brief but I really don't have a clue on how to start it and what to say because I have never said a toast before. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks in advance!

You are correct in saying "brief", as toasts are short, speeches are longer.  Be sappy, the parents will love it.  Something along the lines of thanking them for the support they have given their children, putting up with them.  Add some humour if you wish, maybe about the parents "trying" to help with homework.  Google "graduation toasts", and you'll get some ideas to help you along as well.

Mich has it right. At least I have a year left to think of stuff  ;D . But we don't have things like that(toasts and such), seeing that there are only two of use graduating next year  ;)

Following military tradition, our toasts can be short, timely and appropriate. If your graduation is on a Sun, Wed, Fri or Sat, the Naval Toast of the Day may be an idea.

Effective 2 ay 1999, the Naval Toast of the Day

Naval Toasts of the Day:
Sunday - 'Absent friends'
Monday - 'Our ships'
Tuesday - 'Our sailors'
Wednesday - 'Ourselves'
Thursday - 'Our navy'
Friday - 'Our nation'
Saturday - 'Our families'

Mike: At least you have another in your grad class...this young girl was all alone: http://www.cbc.ca/canada/newfoundland-labrador/story/2006/06/23/nf-lone-graduate-20060623.html

The way it is going now, in 2011 there will be no one to graduate.

If I promise to behave myself at the Prom this time can I go back and do it again??  ;D
I know I'm 52 now but I think I can get it right this time! ::)

I gave it tonight, here is what I came up with in case anyone wanted to know what happened.

I'd like to propose a toast to the parents of the graduating class of 2007. Since you brought us into this world nearly two decades ago (I know it seems allot longer then that) you have been pillars of love and support. And as the curse of old age continues to creep up on you rest assured, we would like you to know that we will always be there for you, just as you have always been there for us through even the toughest of times. On behalf of myself and my class Thank You mom and dad we love you very much!
To the parents.

After giving my toast I was surprised at how long the others were for the Toast to the Teachers/Grads/Boys/Girls etc... They seemed like they were speeches and went on forever. The ceremonies and dinner went very well, our grad theme was 007 (James Bond). Some pictures may follow.

I'm heading out to the after grad party, dont worry I wont do anything stupid (well anything really stupid).
