Graphic Licence Plates in Ontario

If I lived in Alberta, or really anywhere with redlight/speeding/toll cameras, I would get the license plate 0O0O0O0 or really any combination of 0(Zero) and O(Oh). I have never run a redlight, and I usually don't speed, but I think it would be pretty funny. I read about one guy getting one somewhere down in Cali I think it was, and he has never been charged for using an automated toll highway like the 407.

I tried to do that once.  Coincidentally enough, my nickname in civvy land is "Bones".  Well, the licence plate for that was taken in NB, so I submitted for the plate "B0NES" (a zero).  The plate got all the way to the issuing office before they realized there might be issues if the plate need to be run by a police officer.  I tried to convince them that if someone ran the plate, they'd realize they had the wrong vehicle and try a different combination.  I could not win.  They told to me think something else up.

I did and my vanity plate became "IMBONES".

Well if they where to tell you that once your new plate was in you had to turn in your old one to be "recycled" in the system it would. And if more people would turn in there old ones rather then decorating there garage walls with them that would probably help as well. And even if they didn't request them back it would still help to delay this from happening again.

When I got my Veteran plates I did have to turn in my old ones. I don't know if they re-issued them or not.

As for people who leave the province and return (in ON anyway), they expect you to replate your car with the ones you had before you left.
