It was cool when I read about it this morning.

The Devils traded a 2015 7th round pick with the LA Kings to get this pick, as they had no picks left for this year's draft.

Martin Brodeur announces son’s selection by NJ Devils in classic draft moment

NEWARK -- When the NHL Draft entered its seventh and final round on Sunday, the New Jersey Devils did not have a selection in the final 30 picks. General manager Lou Lamoriello worked some magic already having dealt the No. 9 overall pick to the Vancouver Canucks for Cory Schneider, so to cap off the day, he made a dream come true for his franchise player.

Goaltender Martin Brodeur's son, Anthony, was still sitting in the Prudential Center stands undrafted, so Lamoriello made a trade with the Los Angeles Kings to get into the seventh round and the 208th overall pick announcement made for a memorable father/son moment: (see link above)

Brodeur told Puck Daddy on Sunday afternoon that he had a bit of nerves heading into the Draft as a hockey dad. He also said he never dreamed that he'd still be playing in the NHL on the day one of his kids got drafted. (We'll have more from Brodeur on Monday.)

It's not often that seventh round picks find a way to a steady NHL career, but the younger Brodeur — who is also a goalie — will be given every chance to earn it. Having played for famed hockey school Shattuck-St. Mary’s Prep in Minnesota, Anthony Brodeur will take the next step in his career by playing for the Gatineau Olympiques of the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League next season.

With the Devils having drafted Stephane Matteau's son, Stefan, last year, there will no shortage of storylines relating to 1994 when he possibly faces-off against young Brodeur in training camp.

I remember reading that Marty's son was at the draft and thought "wouldn't that be cool if Anthony got drafted to the Devils?". I couldn't help but smile when I saw this, it's just so awesome.
