I just wanted to share the story about where some of my inspiration to join the navy came from.
My great grandfather joined the navy when he was 17 and served in both world wars.
Here is a 3 part article, including video interviews with him. The videos can be hard to understand at times, but the transcript is included.

My grandmother still has his old uniform, one of the ones made out of canvas.
He passed away in 1998 at the age of 100.
PS. I'm trying to find the name of the ship he served on, I'll let you guys know when I find out.
