Anyone two cents on this issue?
I'm skeptical on them. Unarmed citzens, making arrest. How effective can this be? I believe this can be impractical for Halifax Regional Municipality.

After meeting with the head of the Guardian Angels, Halifax Mayor Peter Kelly says he still needs to do more research on the New York-based patrol program before he can give a local chapter his stamp of approval.
Kelly and group founder Curtis Sliwa talked for an hour Monday in New York, where the mayor was attending a conference.
"I have some more phone calls to make, now that I have some information," Kelly told reporters Tuesday in Halifax.
The anti-crime group relies on volunteers to patrol city streets. Members wear red berets but carry no weapons. Sliwa started the group in the Bronx in 1979, and now there are chapters around the world.
Kelly said he is particularly interested in how Canadian chapters of the Guardian Angels are faring in Calgary, Toronto and Vancouver. Other chapters are in the works for Edmonton and Ottawa.
In Calgary, the group ran into opposition from city police only a few months after sending its first class of volunteers to the streets.
