Understanding how Trump works and "dumbest thing ever" are not mutually exclusive.

Advocating for a plan to move an entire population out of lands that they have occupied for almost a century now is "ethnic cleansing." It is not necessary to tie that to a genocide. The forced expulsion is enough. And make no mistake, there is a large part of that group which will not move voluntarily. And of those that do move, there will be a significant number calling for a "return to the homeland" by any means.

I don't disagree that sometimes "shaking the box" is a viable course of action which can lead to a favourable result. I just do not see it in this case. What positive outcome do you (as Trump's alter ego who seems to perceive a plan) see from this suggestion that will lead to a permanent solution to the "Palestinian problem," considering that the vast majority of the world sees this as the "Israeli problem" in the first place?

🍻
IMHO the vast majority of the world don't give a sh**. But opening the cage and letting the rats escape has considerable merit. But where would they go? Jordan doesn't want them. Lebanon is already infested. Syria has the same problem as Lebanon. Perhaps he could offer them transportation to Iran so they can join up with their sponsors or maybe Yemen.

I rest my case.

UK. That island is already lost.

The surrounding Arab nations already demonstrated their (un)willingness to accept Palestinians. Not only would this 'plan' forcibly remove people from one area, it would have to forcibly move them to another.

I thought the new MAGA USA was not going to be the policeman of the world anymore.

I rest my case.
Watching you argue forced resettlement and ethnic cleansing with the guy whose career largely focused on the laws or armed conflict is amusing.

Trump talks a whole lot of shit. We all know that. But when he repeats the same thing over and over, and keeps doubling down as he has again this morning, it’s reasonable to discuss things at more or less face value.

The Palestinians will not, as a whole, voluntarily leave Gaza. Most were born and have lived there their entire lives. Most have no utter citizenship. It is their home, the only place they have any claim or right to. Doesn’t even matter if anywhere else would take them. Nobody has the right to force them to leave.

If they will not leave voluntarily, what would you call any plan or proposal that must necessarily rely on force or coercion to resettle them elsewhere? Because aTrump has talked about them having “beautiful homes” elsewhere. There’s nothing temporary sounding about this. If they will not go voluntarily, what would you, QV, call any plan or proposal that would only an anything if they were forced out? I’d love to see you wordsmith your way out of the concepts of ‘forced resettlement’ and ‘ethnic cleansing’ on this one. Just pretend for a second that Trump isn’t talking out of his ass and tell us what his words taken at face value would mean.

Bad analogy- nothing gives the US any legitimacy to play police in this case.

In such a hypothetical, the U.S. would not be going into Gaza out of any sort of benevolence or humanitarian intent, or they would have done it decades ago.

If they want to set a new high (or low?) bar for “what’s the stupidest and wrongest thing we could do to get a bunch of American kids killed”, this would be the way to do it.
When has that stopped them as that argument could be used in just about every conflict they decided to participate in over the years. Maybe it is in defence of the USA as the people in gaza keep calling for death to America. Works as good as the others.

They would be going in to rebuild an area that has been largely destroyed so could claim humanitarian intent to save all the starving and freezing local civilians that we see in the videos. Many of them are starving so bad that their entire body has bloated up, they are delusion and dance in the street wearing just shirts celebrating a great victory.

Vietnam might still win that one.

Personally think a lot of people get too wound up over his comments which is what he wants. Throw out a comment, everyone takes a fit, then something gets done to stop him from carrying through. A great system to accomplish your goal.

No US boots on the ground.... we'll see...

Trump says Israel will hand over Gaza to US after fighting ends

US President Donald Trump has restated a vision in which the US would take over Gaza, after officials in his administration appeared to contradict his earlier comments.

"The Gaza Strip would be turned over to the United States by Israel at the conclusion of fighting," Trump said on Thursday. He reiterated that the idea would mean resettling Palestinians, and that no US soldiers would be needed.

Trump's resettlement idea has prompted accusations that he is planning ethnic cleansing, and has drawn condemnation from the UN, human rights groups and Arab leaders. Analysts doubt it will ever happen.

After Trump's first comments on the issue, his officials suggested any relocation would be only temporary.

cause Israel doesn't want the land for themselves?

"No Us soldiers will be needed" right. A population of ~2 million, that already has an embedded terrorist group within it, is going to willingly move out of it's territory into foreign lands and there won't be a smidge of resistance

Israel has a resettlement idea. Lots of open area in Alberta. And lots of jobs there apparently.
I'd argue that there's a better chance of the US annexing Canada than Canada (Alberta) ever agreeing to that idea.

Again, hysterical nonsense.

I have not seen any person advocate for ethnic cleansing, and I certainly don't. Like I already said, Trump has shaken the box nice and hard. Let us watch and see all the inflexible players who in the past have not budged on anything suddenly become flexible and come up with new good ideas to a problem that has been festering forever.

Then you’re choosing to be wilfully blind to the calls to move the Palestinians out elsewhere. As Trump moves goalposts and contradicts things he’s said, that has remained constant. He talks about other countries taking them, about ‘beautiful homes’ elsewhere.

You’re dodging the question: Palestinians have said they will not leave. Trump’s pronouncements would rely on at least many of them doing so, and compelling to if they won’t go voluntarily. What’s that called in QV land? What would we term compelling a people to leave their homeland?

We’ll set aside that all he’s accomplishing here is unifying not just Mideast countries but many others to tell him to frig off with this abject nonsense.
