Well, not exactly, but pretty close - shared with the usual disclaimer....

Last tenant 'found decapitated'

A man who was found with his head severed by a chainsaw was fighting to stay in a block of 70 flats in Hampshire cleared for redevelopment.

David Phyall, 50, was the last tenant at the Atlantic Housing Ltd housing association flats in Eastleigh.

His body was found by police on 5 July, who said his death was not suspicious. Post-mortem tests showed he died of a "complete transection of the neck".

An inquest was opened and adjourned at Winchester Coroner's Court on Friday.

A spokesman for the coroner said: "As far as we know nobody else was involved.

"There's nothing suspicious about the death. It was in his flat on Bodmin Road.

"The place is all due to be redeveloped. He was the last resident left there. He lived there alone."

A Hampshire Constabulary spokeswoman confirmed his death was not suspicious.

"We were called to the address on Bodmin Road on 5 July at approximately 4.20pm to a non-suspicious death," she said.

Man chops off head with chainsaw

A man cut off his own head with a chainsaw after stabbing his 70-year-old father to death in their apartment in the German city of Cologne, police said.

The body of the offender, 24, was found headless when police raced to the apartment after an emergency call, apparently from the dying father, had been broken off in mid-sentence.

Alf Willwacher, a senior prosecutor, said an electric chainsaw was next to the son's body.

"We do not believe any third party was involved,'' he said.

Neighbours said the father and son had been reclusive since the death of the mother, allegedly by suicide, several years ago.

That is a little crazy. I cannot imagine cutting my own head off, let alone with a chainsaw.

MM

That's what I was thinking when I read this, that it may not be impossible but seems improbable.  However, I do remember a question in Trivial Pursuit that stated someone had committed suicide by drilling 17 holes in their head with an electric drill, so who knows?  ???

In spite of my being a cynic about MSM, I like to think the BBC wouldn't be fooled.

Hmmm... I dont think so.... partially cut through I could believe, but all the way through?  I would have my doubts...

Unless when he passed out, he fell in such a way that the chain saw kept cutting through.

How is it not suspicious????

You know, if true, you've got to admire his dedication to completing the task.....

When you think of it, the human nervous system is instinctually geared to make you retract from painful stimuli - so to keep going after the chain made first contact...now that's determination.

I'd have just jumped off the building and tried to hit a bus load of middle managers...
