hello canada from a aussie

hello all ye great Canadians  from a fellow brother of her queens commonwealth in Australia
A quick question I'm trying to build a case here in Aussie land to join the aussie army they've said no due to my eyesight they say it is class 4
which means no postion available my eyesight is -5.5 and -6.75 btw 20/20 corrected . 1st question would my eyesight be a issue in Canada?
2nd question if i had lasek corrective surgery and it came up 2 20/20 after operation would i then ok..............i no this is a weird post due to me not being Canadian but I'm trying to build a case 4 the medical appeals board appreciate ur help ........ps.. ;D ya lil bewdy m8

While I suspect the recruiter you spoke to was correct about your vision and he or she is still the best person to get all the info from.  Otherwise I'd check on an Aussie military forum, but becareful because sometimes information on forums like these can, despite the best efforts of the members be incorrect or misleading.

I think the general gist of the thread, is... not that you use msn-speak, but that just about everyone has given you links, but you want to be spoon-fed.

They are just too polite and nice to say so. I suggest you stop asking for people to feed you the information, and click on the links they've offered you. I bet your information is in there. Then you can come back and give Mr. Wallace a hearty "Thanks!"

I would have expected if you're willing to try and find out vision requirements in other Commonwealth countries to make your case, you might also have had the initiative to do the research to the extent of the online resources.

Your choice... But frankly, if you suck it up, and say "oops" and then do the reviewing of the links thoughtfully provided you, you may find that everyone accepts you a lot more wholeheartedly.

Running away or saying "poor me, I'm gonna go home" the first time someone corrects your bad behaviour is not indicative of a grand future in the armed services... I screwed up spectacularly some times, got corrected by some great NCOs, and managed to muddle through!

In the words of my brother - (also on this site): "Suck it up, Buttercup, demonstrate your willingness to learn"... If you do, you'll find the people here at army.ca are really helpful and friendly.

(Just be thankful you didnt run into Paracowboy - his tolerance level is a little lower)

Out of curiosity, why do you want this thread deleted?  You didn't get the info you needed?  Or were we just too hard on your sensibilities?  Whatever the reason, you may not want to go through the trouble of researching "Vision Requirements" in order to justify your joining the ADF, if you are so thin skinned to take criticism or advice.  It now looks like you are too immature and sensitive to be joining any Armed Forces.  

I would like to apologize for all of us Armed Forces types who have tried to give you some direction and in turn insulted your sensibilities.  It seems you don't really need our input and are off to 'greener pastures'.

Thanks for all the advice,and yes i did get some useful information.Btw Canadian recruits are really blessed to have this site its information it gives is 1st rate.And please note i will take all comments on board as regards to maturity etcetc,once again cheers for spoon feeding me and i hope my punctuation has improved. ;D

When I first arrived, I was very much surprised by the blunt, often abrasive responses that some topics get... Then I thought about it for a second, and realized that it was a bunch of military folk sitting around, and really, what else are they going to do? You're not going to get a CO politely asking if you might possibly consider cleaning your rifle better, or a kindly old fellow nicely tapping you awake because you fell asleep on guard duty.

The information is there for you, even if you didn't care for the delivery. You went out of your way to register for a non-local website to find out said information, so obviously it means something to you... Your decision now is what the information means to you, and how much you are willing to work to pursue your dreams.

If it's not for you, better you find out on an abrasive forum than going to Basic or something.
