Hey my name is David and I am seven teen years old and I am interested in joining the canadian armed forces but i am kind of confused as of right now and I am just looking for some advice or guidance from people who have already been through what i am going through. As of right now I am finishing my high school I will completed grade 12 next year I think anyway. But this program has opened at my school it's co-op program with the army reserve for the position of armoured soldier non-commissioned it is half a semester and offers 4 credits, training and pay while training I think anyway. My question is im not really sure what would happen if I signed up for this would it be set in stone me being a armoured soldier or could I change professions since it is only part time reserve I could be taking an apprenticeship for something or going to college or university for something while doing the part time work. Or would it be smarter to finish high school and go regular force in a job that I enjoy then eventually go reserve and use my training to find a job afterwards. Or would it be smarter to goto this program at my local college called military arts and science I think you get a chance of qualifying for Royal military college or should I take trake a trade and specialize in something or goto college and academic upgrade to university credits and try to get a degree? I am kind of screwed up right now this are some tough decisions not a whole lot of people around me to give me advice anything you can think of to help or information about people to talk to about this stuff would be great by the way im still in high school my grade 9 and 10 marks are not so hot but my 11 and 12's I am achieving now are very good.I can still take 11/12 courses that I need to get into most programs time is still with me for now.. also my high marks tend to be in the social study department I am doing good in world issues and current events, anthropology, sociology, history, working with youth all on the academic level etc.. and i've completed most of my mandatory courses including my science but alot of people are telling me i should take another one anyway just for a backup plan. example biology or something so this being said what would be a suitable job for me.

in my personal time and + interests this is what my life usually consists of
being around people and communicating
working out on a regular basis
I like to run to maintain my cardio
I do track and field and like to throw stuff
I love eating healthy and enjoying my life as long as it lasts
will take a risk to get a head start
very skilled on computers for the average high school kid
helping other people by passing down the information I have gained in my life

David, first of all welcome to the site.

Around here we tend to frown on MSN speak and expect proper English to be used including paragraphs. It just makes it easier to read what you’ve posted and allow people to respond.

Here are some reading references that are core to how Army.ca operates. I strongly recommend you take a moment to read through these to give you a better sense for the environment here. It will help you avoid the common pitfalls which can result in miscommunication and confusion. For those that choose not to read, their actions often lead to warnings being issued or even permanent bans.

Thanks alot, from now on i'll try to keep my grammar and spelling in check. I agree with the rules that are set if no one stops people from butchering the english language this place would look unprofessional. You guys are doing a great job by the way.

Thank you anyone who takes the time to read what I put and offer me some advice.

It's not just the fact that "chopped" up language looks "unprofessional", it's just hard to read. Nobody enjoys having to re-read every single sentence over again just to understand a point that either doesn't make sense, or doesn't even matter.

Anyway, I once wanted to do the coop program, but I was too late. Once you're in it, you get a guarunteed spot in the summer program. Now, this doesn't mean you are forced to go in the summer - it simply means if you choose to go, you have a spot saved for you.

Which regiment are you interested in?
