I need to know what the proper naval rank abbreviation for "Commander" was in 1969. I‘d like to assume it was "Cdr", as it is now, but a lot else has changed since then ...

Thanks very much.

Still is and was back then CDR....what confuses some people is CMDRE which is Commodore.

Thanks! No confusion here between Commodores and Commanders; I was just worried about the possibility of time (and unification) taking its toll on something basic. Its the little things that are changed with nary a thought -- just look at how our press has adopted U.S. rank abbreviations (all the better to help get their stories picked up in the States!)

Cheers.

Well, there is a character I havn‘t seen around these boards for a while. Welcome back rceme_rat, plan on staying for a bit?

Will be in and out, on and off -- workload has picked up again and leave little time for socializing!

Cheers.
