Hi, sorry if this seems like a dumb question since I can't seem to be able to get a 100% positive answer to this but is the submarine HMCS Victoria located in Esquimalt? And if it is, is there any possibility of being able to get a tour or something on board? Any help or information anyone could give me would be greatly appreciated, Thanks.

Try the MARPAC site, that will give you a run down on what ships and subs are based there.

http://www.navy.forces.gc.ca/victoria/

That will give you some information.  If the government doesn't cancel the sub programme look for the Victoria to do some flag waving (port visits) in Vancouver, Victoria.....Of course this would have to fit in with the schedule, but it will happen just keep an eye on the paper.  If not just find a local submariner who can hook you up with a look around, before they disappear forever.

I think its premature to say or even speculate that the sub program is going to be cancelled. Look at all the teething problems the CPFs had, albeit no one lost their lives, I still feel once we iron out the Vics problems the return will more then make up for the problems.

Some info on the ships and some decent photos...

It might be premature, but if you sit back and think about it.... It is a possibility, as the subs have been tied up since thanksgiving weekend.  There is an even bigger back log of trainees as a result of them not sailing.. What is the hold up?  Are they going to keep them tied up until the inquiry is complete?  Our government doesn't like negative media attention when it comes to our military, as from the past I wouldn't be surprised if the subs are gone...........Just look at the airbone.........MBT's..........Plus the money that would be freed up from the subs could fund this so called peace keeping force....
