The long decline of the CF is hard to follow as its a little bit here - a little bit there.

You may want to look here - a recent paper I did for a course in War Studies http://www.donlowconcrete.com/USA

Comments are always welcome!

You no like the concussion? sp - I meant the conclusion?

Write your MP and tell 100 of your friends that this performance on their part is pathetic and that Canada`s troops deserve FAR more than they are getting.

It reads exactly like a paper for school. I couldn‘t read it. Rewrite it as an article if you actually care.

Er Sinblox did he not state it‘s a paper he has written for his War Studies Course?

Read it!
It‘s an eye opener!!!

I realize that, Spr. Earl. It‘s a good *school* paper.

Exactly Earl. and it is a well done paper.

*school* or otherwise...

sinblox, i think he obviously does care or he would not have joined the board, and then posted this link.... nor would he have ever written a paper attempting to show the lack of spending that the canadian government gives to DND.

Logau im curious to know what school you go to, and what year and program you are in?

Excellent paper by the way. very very... very. informative... very!

The course is the RMC War studies program. You have to take 5 courses, similar to college level. Sit around - gab - argue then write 2 x 7,000 word papers. They don‘t talk sneaking through the bush - they cover everything related to getting the Armies into the field and keeping the national military going.

If there‘s any keeners out there try this paper I wrote - but before we go there - how many troops were in Montreal for the surrender of the French Garrison in Summer 1760? How many regulars? Where were the reserves from?

If you answered 18,000, 6,000, New England - don‘t go any farther. If not then - go farther!

Less than 200 miles south of the Montreal - Detroit line are the links to a war everybit as vicious as the Balkan wars of the 90s.

#123? Whoops! so it would seem.. well another small oversight on my part! I‘ll make sure not to let it happen again.

As a school paper, it‘s far too full of facts. Reading it might actually take work. What we need is the condensed, Sun version so that Joe Public will immediately get the urgency of the problem, and support the military.

Problem is, if you don‘t back up those sorts of ideas with FACT, you don‘t convince anybody. So we take the long-distance shortcut of reporting the end result of important studies to the newspapers, who bitch and moan about underfunding. Which might actually prompt somebody to read the article...

So read the **** thing, and when somebody gets in your face about why we need the military, you‘ll actually have facts, figures and historical perspective to offer a devastating argument as to why it is important. They may not remember the argument, but they might remember that there were lots of reasons and facts they didn‘t know about....so maybe somewhere along the line they‘ll ask questions of their own.

You can‘t convince anybody with indoctrination. You can only convince them with facts.

I will try and condense it - my prof ripped it to shreds but he said their were a few nuggets in there. Aim was to lay out some things that are generally not known or talked about - least of all by our totally co-opted press in Canada.

Try my grandfather`s site - you`ll be amused

Democracy doesn‘t work on facts anymore...take a look at the study of rhetoric as far back as Socrates and Plato. :fifty: If it bleeds it leads is the motto of most of the media, everything is biased. Scholastic work is important primarily to government commitees, senate commitees, etc...it‘s almost as if the general public, unfortunately, needs a "Vancouver Sun" edition of "facts" that are grossly exaggerated in order to make a decision. By the way, who was your prof? I had a long discussion with Dr. Sokolsky when he visited me last winter about the state of the forces, it was interesting to say the least.

I didn‘t mean to be misleading there. I should clarify that he wasn‘t visiting me in particular, he came to make a presentation at my university and I was the one who set it up, and took care of all his arrangements in town here and stuff.

Yes, I was wonder who Dr Sokolsky makes personal visits to, until I read your next line kaspacanada.
