So who here lives in the GTA and goes hunting soon?

I want to get into huntin' and need some folks to go with.

Preferably in the 20-30 age range... make it easier to relate with.

I prefer to stay away from Jane and Finch, unless I am wearing my dayglo hat and jacket...

S6

Oh boo... in the daytime jane/finch looks just like every other area.

Its the back alleys and behind the buildings you have to check out, them's be interesting!

Sappo,

You may get lucky, but most hunt camps (groups) are pretty tightly knit. They've been together for years, know each others strengths, weaknesses and abilities. Camps may have some openings, but it is normally reserved for someone who's been known to them awhile, and many will have a vote and probation period, before allowing you in. Like I say, you may luck out, but this late in the season.................

"Want to get into huntin"
Don't limit your self to an age limit for hunting partners. As a beginner those with experience can be valuable teachers. Before big-game maybe a day of rabbit or waterfowl hunting to help you meet others would be a good idea.
For Ontario check out these sites.

Good Luck

try www.canadiangunnutz.com, they're are many hunters willing to introduce someone new to the sport.

the first step is taking the hunter's safety course and getting your outdoor card though, can't do anything but watch without it.

Hey Sappo,

I like to get out a few times during the season for small game. I live in the GTA, and I found that a few public hunting places like Luther Marsh, Scugog Island and Ganaraska Forest are o.k. if you hunt them right. Message back if you're interested.

I've been hunting all my life (literally - my first time was when I was a toddler with my Dad for rabbits). At one point my Dad helped a friend run a hunting farm (Pheasant, Wild Turkey mostly) in Cochrane for a number of years, some very good memories from hunts out there and watching the owner's wife beat the pants off of most of the hunters at the trap shooting range ;D

Any Ducks Unlimited members on the forum here, I have been thinking of renewing my membership with them as I have been away from DU for a number of years and have recently moved to south western Ontario and think it would be a good place to meet up with other hunters. For anyone who is a member of DU, do you find there is value in being a member or is it just another donation that you get a sticker and yearly dinner invite out of?

Great to see other hunters here. I live to hunt. Been a freelance outdoor writer off and on for twenty years, have a side business as a booking agent (hunting and fishing trips), and have 3 hunting-related websites here in Arizona.
