Hydrogen Fuel Cells instead of gas in the military.

I am waiting for the day when somebody decides to dump on Iceland for reducing the Earth's Core Temperature by tapping into all that Geo-Thermal Energy.  And by the way does releasing geothermal energy increase or decrease Global Warming?  It seems to me it reduces the Core Temperature while increasing the Surface Temperature.  Is that a net gain, net loss or net-net even?

I don't think poking a few small holes in the earths crust is going to do anything to the mantel. The earth is a big planet and volcanoes spew all the time releasing hot gases on a scale of about 50,000,000 times more than anything Iceland could produce with their few steam holes.

I think that the gain in using geo-thermo energy far outweighs any ill effect there will ever be on the envoroment in the long term if any.

We heat our home with Geothermal, ground source heat pump, closed loop. Its brilliant, it runs about 4.25:1 efficiency .
It both heats in the winter and cools in the summer, I installed an additional 60 gal water heater to cycle excess heat from the pump and preheat water for the hot water heater, typically it takes 60 gallons of 55 degree F water to 108 F in 24 hours, thats pretty much 2-3 showers daily "on the house" as it were.

The major downside is power failure, I need a 10kw unit to fire this puppy up in case of grid loss, which happens often enough out in the sticks. My answer has been to run a wood pellet stove, which can operate along side the freezer, and fridge for 72 hours plus on the back up battery bank alone, this allows me to be primary function capable for 1 week on 5 gallons of fuel for the genny.

How much did that set up cost you? My office approves geo-thermals loops that go into lakes, just visted a new First nation building in Atlin that has a geothermal loop for heat.
