hey I'm finally able to join the reserves and any information and tips would be greatly appreciated

Your profile lists your age at 15? You might have to wait a bit yet.

Regards,

Wes

Okay, I'm lost again...I thought you had to be 18 to join?

From the Canadian Forces Recruiting page on Basic Eligibility Requirements:
http://www.recruiting.forces.gc.ca/engraph/howtojoin/eligibility_e.aspx

Basic Eligibility Requirements

To be eligible for consideration for the Canadian Forces, you must meet the following minimal conditions:

1.   be a Canadian citizen;

           --   if you are not a Canadian citizen but have a permanent resident status, you may still be considered eligible for employment under certain conditions;

2.   be 17 years of age (with parental/quardian consent) or older;

        --   junior level Military College applicants must be 16 years of age on the 1st of January of the year of application;

         --   you may be enrolled in the Reserves providing you are 16 years of age

3.   have successfully completed Grade 10 or, if you live in Quebec, Secondary III;

        --   some entry programs have additional academic prerequisites

4.   be clear of any judicial obligations for at period of at least six months prior to the application;

        --   processing may commence IMMEDIATELY upon completion of a disposition under the Young Offenders Act.

So is it better for a hopefull to join as soon as he or she can?  Because I planned on going to college and getting a degree in something and then enlisting...or does it not matter?

Are you considering Reserve Force (part-time) or Regular Force (full-time) service?

Are you thinking of enrolling asn an officer, or as a non-comissioned member (NCM) , i.e., as a soldier?

These factors will affect the advice you may receive on balancing future plans for education and enrolment.

wes im turning 16 in december
just curious, but why did you mention that you were "finally" able to join even though you are not 16?

I think I'll be Regular Force...I say I think because I'm still trying to learn what I can and I don't know all I should yet

If it helps I want to be a Paratrooper
