I received a call from Garda...

I researched and found no one had previously asked the question... I received a call from Garda earlier today. The lady on the phone claimed to be a Garda employee, and that she needed me to tell her who where my three references for my CF application...

I told her that it was confidential and that the CF had those in file already...

She then told me something that sounded like "uh, ok, then, well I guess I'll call the RC"

Now, my question is: did I screw up, and this was part of the recruitment process?  Or was this totally odd and not part of what usually happens?
I can't actually call my recruiter for the next two or three days, and I found this very odd...

Any answers regarding this would be great!

Completely normal. Garda has been contracted to do the background checks. I think this is something the recruiting centres need to be passing on to candidates so they aren't surprised by this.

Don't get too worked up about it. Someone at Garda probably just got lazy rather than track down paperwork.

Ahhh, I honestly got really scared when the lady started asking me about references and all, I had never heard about Garda's background checking, but read about it here...

Good to know, so basically if they call me a second time for those, just give them the references?

Sounds  like Garda dropped the ball a bit in your case. They should already have your references from your application...if they misplaced them they should not be contacting you to sort it out.

I would not worry about it to much.
