I start hunting "pigs" tomorrow....

Dont worry 48th, I wear saftey glasses ;). And yes Big Foot im not going to bring it on a plane! Ill check into the regs Muskrat

I have a springmaster and it does an excellent job taking out squirrels along the telephone lines in front of my house, however the odds are your rifle is .177 which means you will just acupunture anything that you shoot, so keep the game small... like pigeons and squirrels, even a raccoon is to large for that... have fun....

Well, I've hunted about 4 days total, and have only seen one javelina. Taking my 7 yr old daughter out tomorrow. I'm hunting 2 days next week, and then I'm done. In the mean time, I thought you'd like to see some of the ground I'm covering. People think of the desert as being vast sandscapes, like the Sahara. Actually, the Sonoran Desert is thriving and surprisingly green.. These are typical desert washes that I'm hunting. These quickly fill up during rain storms, and are essentially dry creek beds most of the time. In the photos are saguaro and barrel cactii, cholla cactus, ocotillo cactus, creosote bushes, etc. The last 3 weeks temps here have varied from low 30s at night to high 70s in the daytime.

I plan on doing some hunting soon. I got an Air Rifle for Christmas so I plan on taking her out and seeing what she can do ;). It's a Beeman, Model FH 500 and the velocity 475fps. Man do I love it!

I used a similar spring action air rifle as a kid. It works well for the gophers (ground Squirrels) around the farm. As mentioned above it will just injure anything the size of a cat or bigger.

So you camping there overnight or just heading out once it gets too late? Cause it would look pretty fun to camp out in that kind of terrain

I almost bagged one with a .177 pistol at a very long range, missed its head by a couple inches.

The thing was 100m away.

Its tough to keep that thing steady after you pump it 10 times because the barrel is so long and your heart is pumping a little harder.

Bloody hell, those 'cactids' are like something out of Quick Draw McGraw!

Feral 'wild' wild pigs are abundant here in outback Australia, and are a problem to the environment, and can attack if prevoked. so, hence, its open season on them 365 days a year.

My turn to pass the helmet.

:warstory: Here is a pig shoot'n story   :warstory:.

A mate of mine was out with friends in country New South Wales, "pigg'n" here in the bush. He shot a big muther of a boar with a .357 mag revolver as the beast crossed a stream and was climbing out the other side.

He missed the 1st shot,The 2nd shot got him square in the ole ball bag, and this creature let out a squeal you could accross the Kimberlys!

The shot had 'removed his ball bag', and Mr Boar then turned in a rage of rages, infact the mother of all rages, and began to charge at my friend squealing like a demon possessed.

The swine leaped back into the water and my friend emptied his revolver   :akimbo: at the beast and on the 6th shot, a bullet ricocheted off its forehead. All this from less than 10 metres away, and still coming on strong.

As the creature began to climb the bank only 4 metres away, my friend frantically was in the middle of a 'combat' reload when his friend    :soldier: shot and killed it from behind with a .303 rifle. Talk about a close call. Only a few seconds away if that!

I have seen the skull and the tusks from this animal. Both are huge, and could have caused a lot of damage to a man!

Now thats a pig "warstory" that needed to be told.

Cold beers,

Wes

I have seen the crap literaly scared out of a bird.

Somebody took a shot at one in a tree and missed but the bird flew off as soon as the pellet hit the tree and took a big dump.
